Description

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

This position is responsible for performing quality diagnostic echocardiograph ultrasound examinations efficiently and accurately while maintaining all appropriate Company policies/procedures and risk management guidelines.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform echocardiograph examinations following established policy, procedure and risk management guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, and other medical staff.
  • Communicate specific problem areas regarding any procedures by obtaining a thorough patient history and sharing this information with the reading physician to ensure a quality diagnostic exam.
  • Interact professionally with the client and reading physician(s) to ensure the utmost quality diagnostic images.
  • Communicate in a tactful and professional manner with patients and their families offering a complete and thorough explanation of the procedure being performed.
  • Procure statistical information for daily activity sheet and forward to operation office as requested.
  • Safely operate the ultrasound equipment including CD/DVD, client computer system/PAC’s, and related peripheral and photographic equipment, by following established protocol.
  • Assist with ACR and IAC accreditation processes as needed.
  • Adhere to quality control and safety regulations as dictated by current established programs.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement process to ensure optimum continuous quality improvement of care to the patient.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Individuals having regular clinical contact with patients demonstrate knowledge and skills in caring for patients (or assisting in caring for patients) of different age groups. Individuals demonstrate the ability to care for and utilize resources for patients to promote a cost effective and efficient environment for patients in the following age groups: Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from accredited school of Medical Sonography.
  • Cardiac registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDCS) or registration from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or registry eligible. 
  • Previous experience with Echocardiography in a hospital setting a plus
  • Ability to perform transthoracic echocardiograms
  • Ability to perform stress echo exams a plus.
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Must complete safety compliance trainings upon hire and annually thereafter including, OSHA and HIPAA, sexual harassment compliance, Workplace Bullying, defensive driving, and incident reporting.
